Thank you Parents

Bags all full! More bags

Thank you so much for all the bags of old textiles you brought to school today! We had so many that the special sacks we were given were soon over flowing. We had to put all the extra bags in the gym. I can’t wait to find out how many points we get for all your clothes. Now the bags will be collected and weighed and next week we will know the results. New Science equipment here we come!

Collection Day is Friday!

The Eco-Council setting up collection

I hope that the Spring Cleaning is going well and that you have found lots of unwanted textiles. Remember we need:

bed linen

paired shoes

All items must be clean and dry. Please can you tie the pairs of shoes together by the laces or with an elastic band. Place all items together in the given plastic sack or any plastic bag and send to school on Friday morning. Hopefully we will get lots of new science equipment in exchange for your unwanted clothes. ( Sorry we can’t accept pillows, duvets, sleeping bags and bric a brac.)

Waste Week

This week is Waste Week!

Waste Week Assembly

This week is Waste Week at Abbey! The Eco-council are trying to get everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle! They started off in assembly this morning telling the Year 1 and Year 2 children all about waste and what we can recycle at school and at home. Did you know that we recycle paper, card, plastic, pens, old printer ink cartridges and cell phones at Abbey! For this week and this week only we will also be recycling textiles! So have a good Spring clean at home and collect together all your unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, sandles and trainers. (clean and dry items only please) Put them all in a plastic back and bring them to school on Friday morning. That’s Friday the 15 March! The more we collect the more new science equipment we will get!

Abbey Primary School blog

Welcome to our new school blog.  We will be using it to share what is going on in each year group, celebrate achievements as well as giving the children opportunities to write to a wider audience.
