Netball Match Reports

This week our netball squad played two matches, home and away. The first match was on Tuesday 9th Feb. and we hosted the games against St Dunstans. We were looking really forward to our games and all the girls played so well. In the first match the girls held their own on the court, intercepting and showing great effort in the defence. St Dunstans had a goal-shooter who was very accurate and despite excellent efforts from our goal-defence and goal-keeper we lost the first match 3-0. The second game was a great show of how much we have improved, our passes were more accurate, the girls were running into space, calling for the ball and we managed to score 1 goal. Unfortunately despite our best efforts St Dunstans also managed to score goals and the final score was 2-1 to them. Players of the match were Christabelle and Hannah.

Our second match was away at Cheam Fields Primary school on Wednesday 10th Feb. The girls were enthusiastic and ready to continue their hard work from the day before. Our defending was tight and the girls made good use of the width of the court, running into spaces to create attacking opportunities. In the first game the girls did not give up and despite a very strong attack from Cheam Fields the girls played with such perseverance, however their attack was stronger than ours and we lost 10-0. In the second game Abbey were holding their own on the court, intercepting Cheam Fields and getting the ball to our centres and wing attacks. Despite more movement on the court in the second game we could not beat their goal shooting and lost 3-0.   Players of the match were Amy and Haya.

Our Abbey Netball squad should be very proud of how well they played in both games this week! Thank you to those parents that supported us on Tuesday and Wednesday, and to those that could give lifts, it was lovely to see so many supporters out in the cold.
