The good life!

We are all very excited about our new  residents! We have become carers to 4 lovely chickens. Mrs Palmer and the eco-council were first tasked with ensuring the chickens settled into their new home and we then waited eagerly for them to start laying eggs. We then had to name the chickens so that we could identify them using their coloured leg tags. Each class chose a name which was added to the pot. Miss Tunstall and Mrs Bedforth pulled out 2 names in each assembly and our chickens were named!

The children are really enjoying caring for the chickens and the daily egg hunt!

The quad is now also home to our ‘composting cottage’! Everyday, the children put their leftover fruit and peel into a caddy in their classroom. This gets collected every other day and emptied into the cottage, where nature will do it’s job and turn the rotting food into compost full of nutrients that will help all of our vegetables grow!
